Tino Livramento reacts to new Jonathan Rowe message after Man City latest

Jonathan Rowe and Tino Livramento could both be sporting light blue and white next season after England’s Under-21 Euros success.

Rowe proved to be England’s hero in the decider of this summer’s Euros and headed home the winning goal for Lee Carsley’s side against Germany, but Livramento was a constant throughout the tournament.

The Newcastle United full-back operated on both sides of England‘s defence in five of their six matches on the way to the title, as the only member of the Young Lions’ squad with a senior cap to his name.

Livramento’s form for club and country last season attracted significant interest from Manchester City, and Football Insider revealed on 4 July that Newcastle will demand £165million for the 22-year-old.

Rowe avoids transfer speculation with ‘back to it’ message

The tug of war between Newcastle and Man City for Livramento’s services looks set to continue long into the summer transfer window, but his England Under-21 team-mate Rowe’s future is already decided.

Rowe was the subject of transfer speculation aplenty last summer with Leeds United extremely keen on him, but the 22-year-old instead headed to Marseille on a season-long loan with a £14m option to buy.

That obligation was triggered this summer ahead of another Young Lion joining Rowe at Marseille in the form of in CJ Egan-Riley, and the ex-Norwich winger posted a pre-season update on Instagram (15 July).

In a message liked by Livramento and several other international team-mates, Rowe said: “Straight back to it”.

Man City to step up Livramento transfer pursuit

Football Insider Verdict

Man City have already splashed out £115m this summer to bulk up Pep Guardiola’s squad ahead of the Club World Cup, and further spending will be in the pipeline if and when that squad side reduces again.

Jack Grealish and Kalvin Phillips are two of several players set to be moved on by Man City this summer, and Kyle Walker’s already confimed departure to Burnley does open up a vacant spot at right-back.

Fringe full-back options like Issa Kabore are also expected to leave the Etihad Stadium, and with Newcastle potentially being forced to sell Livramento over the course of the window, City will be ready and waiting to pounce.
