‘Tiresome’ – Man United fans react to what Rasmus Hojlund did on his Napoli debut

Manchester United supporters have been left frustrated by the news that Rasmus Hojlund scored on his Napoli debut.

Ruben Amorim bolstered his forward line in the summer transfer window, as Man United signed Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo.

Consequently, Hojlund became surplus to requirements at Old Trafford, subsequently joining defending Serie A champions Napoli on loan with an option to buy.

The 22-year-old was culpable for Man United’s poor Premier League season last term, notching just four goals in 32 top-flight appearances.

Meanwhile, former Red Devils star Scott McTominay had a significant impact for Napoli last season, scoring 12 goals in 34 Serie A outings as Antonio Conte’s men earned their fourth Italian top-flight title.

Amorim facilitated several outgoings in the summer transfer window in addition to Hojlund’s exit, as Marcus Rashford joined Barcelona, while Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Antony also departed the North West.

Man United supporters have grown tired of the trend that several players, including McTominay and Antony have performed better after leaving Old Trafford.

Similarly, Rashford was an asset during his loan spell with Aston Villa last season, helping Unai Emery’s side reach the Champions League quarter-finals and the FA Cup semi-finals.

That pattern has seemingly continued, with Hojlund firing past former Man United goalkeeper David De Gea on his Napoli debut, as Conte’s side took on Fiorentina.

The defending Serie A champions will be reliant on Hojlund this season, thanks to the injury suffered by fellow ex-Red Devils ace Romelu Lukaku.

Meanwhile, the Denmark striker could feature for Napoli in the Champions League against Manchester City on Thursday, 18 September.

Man United fans react as Rasmus Hojlund scores on Napoli debut

While Hojlund joined Napoli, Man United opted against signing Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa, instead acquiring Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp.

In response to the news that the striker scored in his first match for Conte’s side, one Red Devils fan said on X: “Debut goal for Rasmus Hojlund at Napoli.

The ineptitude at Manchester United is just so tiresome at this point.”

Another fan said: “The Hojlund goal is a goal scored playing to his strengths btw. Not forcing him to be something he isn’t.
