The Toffees have finally agreed a fee to sign Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun, Everton manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed.
The Sun reports that the 26-year-old hitman will cost the Premier League side £27million and all that remains to be done is the completion of personal terms and a medical.
All being well Allardyce has suggested that Tosun could be a part of the Everton side that goes to Anfield in the FA Cup on Friday night.
“We’ve agreed a deal and are at the stage of personal terms. Hopefully, we might be able to get him registered in time to play in the cup,” he said in the Sun.
“If official documents arrive, Cenk Tosun may be in the squad in the Liverpool game.”
The Turkish international has been an integral member of a Besiktas team which has made it to the last 16 of the Champions League.
Football Insider previously reported that it would only be a matter of time before a deal was confirmed and that seems true with Allardyce’s statement going public.
Football Insider verdict:
Only failure to agree personal terms or the medical can seemingly prevent this deal from going through now. Tosun will prove to be an excellent acquisition for Everton, who have been crying out for a striker and creativity going forward. Equally at ease with the ball at either foot, he will cause problems for many defences in the Premier League. His idol as a boy was said to be Gabriel Batistuta and if the Toffees can get anything out of the Turk that replicates the Argentinian, then they have on their hands a very fine player.
