Tom Cairney, Raul Jimenez react to Fulham departure announcement

Tom Cairney and Raul Jimenez reacted after Fulham made an announcement confirming a departure on social media.

The Whites just missed out on qualification for European football last season, although their points tally of 54 was a club record in England’s top flight.

As a consequence, several clubs are interested in Marco Silva, including Tottenham, Al-Hilal, and Juventus.

The Portuguese boss has been outspoken about his desire to be backed in the transfer market. Fulham sold Joao Palhinha for a record fee last summer, and now-West Ham target Aleksandar Mitrovic departed the season before, with neither having been adequately replaced.

But as the Whites begin their transfer dealings, the first order of business has been to decide who will remain at the club next season, and who will depart.

Cairney has been offered a new deal amid interest from Wrexham, but several first-teamers will depart this summer, including a former Tottenham striker.

Fulham announce Carlos Vinicius departure

Carlos Vinicius is one of several Fulham first-teamers whose contracts will not be renewed this summer.

Alongside the Brazilian, compatriot Willian and backup goalkeeper Luca Ashby-Hammond will also not have their contracts renewed.

Following news of Vinicius’ departure, Fulham shared a montage of the striker’s best moments in a white shirt on Instagram, captioned: “Forever in Fulham folklore.”

The striker replied: “FOREVER” with a love-heart emoji, and teammates Cairney and Jimenez liked the post, showing support for the outgoing forward.

Fulham once again in the market for a new striker

Football Insider Verdict

Some positions seem to pose a problem time and time again, and Fulham have struggled to find a reliable striker option ever since Mitrovic left for Saudi Arabia.

Rodrigo Muniz looked like the man to fill the Serbian’s boots following a breakout 2023/24 season, but Silva started the Brazilian forward just eight times in the Premier League last campaign.

Instead, the Portuguese manager used Jimenez as his starter, but at 34 years old, the Mexican is hardly the long-term option at the position.

Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath revealed Fulham were looking at PSV Eindhoven striker Ricardo Pepi as an option.

The USA international’s season was curtailed by injury, but the 22-year-old is held in high regard.
