Tomas Soucek could complete £30m Newcastle United move after source’s reveal – pundit
Newcastle will be “waiting in the wings” as Tomas Soucek continues his contract standoff at West Ham, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Irons need to tie the 27-year-old down in order to ward off the cash-rich Magpies.
Football Insider revealed last month (26 May) that West Ham will listen to offers for Soucek this summer following a falling-out with David Moyes.

The Czech international’s future at the London Stadium is in doubt after contract talks hit the rocks – with his current deal set to expire in June 2024.
According to The Sun (24 June), Newcastle, Everton, and Aston Villa are all interested in Soucek – who could be sold by West Ham for as little as £30million.
Whelan insisted the midfield star would be a “fantastic signing” for Eddie Howe’s side.
“Again, Newcastle are looking at players in this certain bracket,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“These are players who can’t agree to contracts or want to take the next step up to be in and around those European spots.
“I think Soucek would be a fantastic signing for Newcastle. But I’m sure West Ham won’t want to see him go. He’s been so influential for them, in and out of possession.
“West Ham have got European football again – so they’re going to need to get this new deal sorted.
“If not, then you’re going to have clubs like Newcastle waiting in the wings. And you know for sure that they have the money to give him what he wants.”

Soucek made 51 appearances during the 2021-22 season, scoring six goals and grabbing one assist.
He joined West Ham for £18million in July 2020.
