Toney and Wissa react to Mbeumo’s Brentford message amid transfer rumours

Bryan Mbeumo caught the attention of Ivan Toney and Yoane Wissa on social media, after sending a tribute message to Brentford fans.

The Bees were beaten 3-2 by London rivals Fulham, in what was their final home game of the Premier League season.

Thomas Frank’s side led 2-1 at the break after goals from Mbeumo and Wissa, with the former also missing a penalty in the first half.

However, the Cottagers turned the game around in a two-minute spell midway through the second period, Tom Cairney grabbing the equaliser before Harry Wilson secured all three points moments later.

Brentford’s chances of clinching European football had already taken a hit before the contest, after Crystal Palace beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final, meaning that eighth place was no longer guaranteed a Conference League spot.

Mbeumo sends message to Brentford fans

Both Manchester United and Newcastle are interested in Mbeumo, after the forward’s impressive campaign.

The 25-year-old has found the net 19 times in the Premier League, as well as picking up seven assists.

After his final home game of the season, and perhaps his final ever game at the Gtech Stadium in Brentford colours, Mbeumo took to social media to send a message to Bees fans.

The winger shared some photos from the day, along with a caption which read: “Not the result we wanted for the last one at home but wanted to thanks you fans for the support throughout the season, we love you.”

Both Toney and Wissa reacted by liking the post to show their appreciation and support.

Brentford face battle to keep star players

Football Insider Verdict

Like Mbeumo, Wissa has scored 19 times in the Premier League this season, with the pair boasting 49 goal involvements between them.

This partnership up front has been a huge part of Brentford’s success, with the Bees looking set for a top-half finish come the end of the campaign.

However, a summer raid could be in the offing in West London, with Nottingham Forest interested in Wissa, and Mbuemo catching the eye of a number of top clubs.

Among the clubs interested are Manchester United and Newcastle who will both be looking to bolster their attacking ranks.

Of course Brentford are well placed to deal with any major departures, as they boast one of the best recruitment strategies and business models in England.

Time after time they lose their most important players, like last summer when Toney moved to Saudi Arabia, but these departees are always replaced and often even improved upon.
