Tony Bellew, Tom Davies and Yannick Bolasie respond to Calvert-Lewin’s Everton exit message

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has confirmed that he will leave Everton when his contract expires to finally end speculation about his future.

The 28-year-old made 273 appearances for the Toffees since joining from Sheffiled United in 2016, scored 71 goals and picked up 22 assists.

Repeated injury issues throughout spell at Goodison Park had led to concerns, while he missed 14 games between January and May with a hamstring issue this season.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in May that Calvert-Lewin had decided to leave Everton, with the club already working on replacements.

Those injury issues cooled the Toffees’ desire to renew his terms, and he is now prepared to explore his options as a free agent.

Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider on 18 April that Newcastle have had second thoughts about Calvert-Lewin, and the deal has hit a stumbling block amid fitness concerns.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin confirms Everton exit

Calvert-Lewin has been linked with moves to the likes of Newcastle and Man United in recent months, but his future remains undecided following his announcement.

The striker took to social media on 29 June to confirm he would be leaving Everton when his contract expires, and speculation about his destination is now rife.

Alongside that speculation, a number of his current and former teammates have reached out to wish him good luck wherever his future lies and praise his time at Everton.

Posting on Instagram, the striker wrote: “One a blue, always a blue” alongside a heartfelt message in which he thanked fans, managers and teammates for their support.

The statement was immediately met with support from Tony Bellew, who wrote: “Best of luck mate”, while the likes of Tom Davies, Yannick Bolasie and Vitalii Mykolenko also reached out.

Jarrad Branthwaite update emerges after Man United twist

While Everton are set to leave Calvert-Lewin in the coming days, one player they want to keep hold of for the long-term future is Jarrad Branthwaite.

Brown told Football Insider on 24 June that Everton are confident Branthwaite will sign a new deal to commit his long-term future to David Moyes’ project.

The Toffees moved to deter interest in the defender with a £100million price tag, and are now seeking to solidify their position with the offer of a new deal.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider on 29 June that Branthwaite’s agent was speaking to Man United about a deal, but nothing solid ever materialised.
