Tony Gale delivers verdict on Premier League title race, shares what could tip scales Tottenham's way

By Matt Farr

Sky Sports pundit Tony Gale believes Tottenham could beat Chelsea to the Premier League title if they win their FA Cup semi final.

The two sides are still going head to head on two different fronts, with both the Premier League title and the FA Cup crown on the agenda this month.

Tottenham piled extra pressure on the current league leaders with a 4-o win over Bournemouth on Saturday, reducing the gap behind Chelsea to just four points.

The Blues, on the other hand, had opened the door having been defeated 2-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford.

But Gale insists that Tottenham are the ones with such precious momentum heading into the end of season run-in, and a further triumph against Chelsea could tip the scales their way in the title race.

Speaking live on the Premier League Daily show on Sky Sports on Tuesday, he said:

“On paper, Chelsea have the easier job. But Spurs have the momentum, and the form, and everything going for them. It’s just a matter of ticking them off one at a time for both clubs.

“Concentrate on the next fixture, that’s it, bang. With the semi-final coming up this weekend as well, that may have a little bit of an impact on it.

“If Spurs can get a good result over Chelsea and give them a good turning over, it may psychologically do that extra little bit that tips the scales their way. It’s amazing what can go on in a run in.”

The two sides will meet at Wembley on Saturday in the semi final of the FA Cup, with Arsenal and Manchester City facing-off in the other semi final.

Tottenham have not won a domestic title since their League Cup triumph during the 2007-08 season, while they have not won a league title since the 1960-61 campaign.
