Tony Xia aims a sly dig at Aston Villa ace following the win against Birmingham
By Amir Mir
Tony Xia has aimed a sly dig at Aston Villa ace Gabby Agbonlahor following his winning goal against rivals Birmingham City on Sunday afternoon.
The club’s owner suggested that hard work pays off when you turn up to training early every day hinting at Agbonlahor’s recent behaviour.
The 30-year-old was highly criticised last season after he was put on a fitness programme towards the end of the club’s relegation campaign.
As a result, he was left out of Roberto Di Matteo’s plans at the start of this Championship season but was brought back into the first team set-up when Steve Bruce arrived in October.
He scored the winning goal – his first since scoring against Norwich in the Premier League last February – from the substitutes bench as Bruce’s side claimed a 1-0 win against their rivals.

The result has no bearing on Villa’s standing in the table because they are out of the promotion race and clear of relegation.
However, that second-half strike from Agbonlahor means the Blues are one place and two points above the relegation zone.
Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp replaced Gianfranco Zola in the dugout following the Italian’s resignation on Monday after the defeat against Burton.
Redknapp now has two more matches to steer his side to safety with promotion hopefuls Huddersfield their next opponents followed by a trip to Bristol City on the last day of the season.
