Xia reveals why Jedinak and Tshibola were missing for Derby clash

By Amir Mir

Tony Xia has revealed that Mile Jedinak red tape and an Aaron Tshibola injury kept the pair out of Aston Villa’s clash against Derby on Saturday.

The Villa owner revealed that new signing Jedinak’s paperwork will be finalised by Tuesday as he gave an update to supporters ahead of the Championship clash.

Roberto Di Matteo’s side have only two senior midfielders in their playing squad in action against Derby, with Ashley Westwood and Gary Gardner both picked in the starting XI.

Tshibola, 21 had played the previous two games for Di Matteo’s side following his summer switch from Reading.

Jedinak completed his transfer from Crystal Palace in midweek but will not be able to make his Championship debut for another seven days.

“Yes, he [Tshibola] injured,” Xia wrote on his personal Twitter account. “Jedinak will complete documents next Tuesday.”

Tshibola has impressed since making his move from Championship rivals Reading earlier on in the summer.

However, the Villa faithful will have to wait a little longer to see combative midfielder Jedinak make his debut for the club.
