Top five Chelsea players expected to be sold in fire sale ranked

The Chelsea exit door will be wide open this summer as the club’s owners look to raise enough funds to avoid breaching financial regulations.

The Blues suffered heavy losses of £90million in their latest financial accounts and are now under pressure to complete sales to balance the books.

Chelsea have spent over £1billion in the transfer window since their takeover in 2022, but their spending has quickly caught up to them and they are now at risk of a points deduction.

As revealed by Football Insider, Chelsea plan to sell as many as four senior stars before July to meet their Profit and Sustainability requirements

With fringe players, big-money stars and academy graduates likely to be put up for sale, Football Insider takes a look at five players who could head for the exit this summer and ranks them in order of likelihood to depart.

5. Marc Cucurella

Chelsea

Despite spending £62million on his signature and committing to a six-year deal in 2022, Cucurella’s time in west London looks to be coming to an end already.

The Spanish full-back has only made 13 appearances this season across all competitions.

Mauricio Pochettino has preferred to use Levi Colwill and Ben Chilwell on the left flank and Cururella no longer has a place in the first-team.

4. Kepa Arrizabalaga

Bournemouth

Chelsea made Kepa the most expensive goalkeeper in the world back in 2018 after they signed him from Athletic Bilbao for £72million.

The Blues thought they had secured a top-class goalkeeper for the next decade, but Kepa made 163 appearances for the club and now finds himself out on loan at Real Madrid.

His seven-year contract is set to expire in 2025 so Chelsea are running out of time to cash in on him.

3. Armando Broja

The Albania international came close to a permanent exit in January but Chelsea priced clubs out of a move with a valuation of £50million.

The 22-year-old instead joined Fulham on loan but he will be hot property in the transfer market again this summer for top-flight clubs looking for a young centre-forward.

As an academy product, he is extremely valuable to Chelsea as any sale will represent pure profit on their accounts.

2. Conor Gallagher

Man City

Similarly to Broja, Gallagher being a graduate from Cobham makes him more likely to be sold.

As revealed by Football Insider, talks between Chelsea and Gallagher over a new deal have stalled and he could now be sold early in the summer to boost finances.

Tottenham held talks for the 24-year-old midfielder over January and they will be first in line again this summer if Gallagher is forced out of the club.

1. Romelu Lukaku

Chelsea

An absolutely disastrous transfer for Chelsea.

They spent a jaw-dropping £98million to bring him back to Stamford Bridge in 2021 and he scored 15 goals in 44 appearances before being loaned back to Italy because of a bombshell interview where he criticised the club and manager Thomas Tuchel.

Lukaku is now out on loan at Roma and is expected to return to Chelsea in the summer, but there is far too much friction for him to have a future with the Londoners and an exit is inevitable.

Chelsea accept there will be a massive loss and sources say a £40m offer will get a deal done.
