Tottenham 21-year-old to leave at the end of the season – Insider
By Richard Parks
Tottenham midfielder Joe Pritchard will quit the club at the end of the season, according to a club insider.
The Lilywhite Rose Twitter account, which is a very reliable source for news about the club’s young players, reported on Wednesday evening that the midfielder, 21, is heading out of the Spurs exit door.
In a Twitter exchange with a Spurs fan about youngster Jack Roles, Lilywhite Rose explained that he is set to get a contract extension of another year and that he will get more opportunities next season “with Joe Pritchard leaving”.
Pritchard has been an integral member of the Spurs Under-23s side this season, making 19 appearances, 17 of which have come in Premier League 2.
Football Insider verdict:
Given that Pritchard has made 53 appearances for Tottenham’s development squad without coming close to making the senior team – he has not even been selected for a matchday squad – it appears that it is best for all parties that he should move. The Watford-born youngster is likely to have to drop down the Football League ladder to make it in the professional game, but his regular Under-23s role suggests he has the pedigree to do so. The harsh reality of life for the Spurs young guns is that is for every Harry Kane or Harry Winks to emerges from the youth ranks to establish themselves in the first team, there are dozens who pass through without getting the call-up from Mauricio Pochettino.
In other Tottenham news, Mauricio Pochettino has been at the centre of a huge Spurs dressing room bust-up.
