Tottenham ace James Maddison rubs salt in Ipswich wounds with Norwich message
Tottenham star James Maddison aimed another dig at Ipswich Town after his side’s win over the Tractor Boys via a dig on social media.
Spurs enjoyed a successful trip to Portman Road to take on Kieran McKenna’s side on Saturday afternoon (22 February).
Brennan Johnson produced an outstanding performance as Tottenham swept aside Ipswich to claim a comfortable 4-1 win over the Premier League struggles.
That saw Ange Postecoglou‘s side continue their recent upturn in form as they look to rescue what has been a largely underwhelming season.
For Maddison though this particular win also carried some extra personal significance, a point he has been keen to make.

James Maddison aims subtle Ipswich Town dig in Instagram post
As Roy Keane now knows Maddison is not frightened of making fun of other people with his social media activity, and even after this latest win over Ipswich, the 28-year-old still had the Tractor Boys in his sights.
The attacker previously spent a spell with the Portman Road club’s East Anglian rivals Norwich City between 2016 and 2017.
Tottenham last five Premier League games | Result |

Leicester (A) | Lost 2-1 |
Brentford (H) | Won 2-0 |
Man United (H) | Won 1-0 |
Ipswich (A) | Won 4-1 |
In total he made over 50 appearances for the club, nicknamed the Canaries, and he was keen to remind those connected with Ipswich of that while celebrating his side’s win over them.
Taking to Instagram to react to that match, Maddison paid tribute to Johnson after his two goals in that win with a caption of “Johnson again ole oleeeee COYS”.
He then accompanied that with three loveheart emojis, one in white to represent Tottenham, and two in yellow and green for Norwich.
In the picture attached the post, Maddison could also be seen pointing to a tattoo of a canary on his arm.
Tottenham form will bring relief around the club
Football Insider Verdict
Earlier in the season Spurs had given Ipswich their first win back in the Premier League when McKenna’s side claimed a 2-1 win.
That was one of a number of embarassing results this season that have put plenty of pressure on Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou.
There will therefore be a relief that a repeat of that was avoided in this reverse fixture, especially given they had started to show signs of finding a way to win in the Premier League.
Winning this game in by a convincing margin will help maintain confidence, and for Maddison, it will clearly do a lot for the Tottenham attacker’s mood given his own historical connections.
