Tottenham ace James Maddison trolls Brennan Johnson in new message

Tottenham midfielder James Maddison has taken to social media to poke fun at teammate Brennan Johnson.

Maddison, 28, has undergone somewhat of a rebirth in the past month, scoring a terrific freekick in the 4-1 win over Aston Villa and netting a brace as Spurs swept aside Man City 4-0.

Despite his good form, chances remain fairly limited for the attacking midfielder, seeing just 191 minutes of action in Spurs’ last five games across all competitions.

In fact, Maddison is yet to play a full 90 minutes for Ange Postecoglu’s side this season, being substituted in all 12 of his starts.

It’s been a chaotic start to the season for Spurs, winning six, drawing one, and losing five of their opening 12 Premier League games.

One thing that has remained consistent, however, is Johnson’s form, with the 23-year-old averaging a goal contribution nearly every other game.

Nine goals and one assist in 19 appearances across all competitions makes the Wales international Spurs’ top goalscorer.

Johnson’s fine form doesn’t make him immune from training ground jokes, such as the one that Maddison left on his latest Instagram post.

His comment, simply saying “Gavalaarrrrrrrrr” is a reference to the famous sitcom Gavin and Stacey, set in Wales.

Attention will return to football on Sunday (December 1) as Spurs host Fulham, with the West London side just one point behind their North London counterparts.
