Tottenham ace: This is why we are confident ahead of Chelsea clash

By Emma Sanders

Dele Alli claims Tottenham will head into their clash against Chelsea on Wednesday with confidence because of their performance against Watford.

Tottenham thrashed the London side on Sunday and Alli scored twice as Mauricio Pochettino’s side recorded a comfortable 4-1 victory at Vicarage Road.

Harry Kane was also in top form and grabbed a brace alongside Alli and the attacking midfielder insists his side are well-prepared to take on Chelsea in the blockbuster fixture this week.

“It was a solid performance from us. After we got that first goal it was a pretty comfortable win in the end. Everyone put a good shift in and it gives us a lot of confidence going into the next game,” Alli told Sky Sports after the game.

Chelsea are currently top of the Premier League table and they hold a commanding 10-point lead over Tottenham who are now sat in fourth place.

However, Spurs have not lost at White Hart Lane this season and the last meeting between the two sides turned out to be a close encounter despite Chelsea taking all three points.

Alli is expected to make his 19th league appearance of the season against Chelsea and will be hoping he can add to his impressive tally of nine goals in all competitions throughout 2016-17.

The 20-year-old came under criticism earlier this season for missing a number of goal-scoring opportunities but his form has improved and he goes into the clash with five goals in his last three Premier League appearances.

In other Tottenham news, Graham Roberts believes Alli will achieve this twice.
