Tottenham are closing in on four new signings before the transfer window shuts this month, according to a report.
The Mail claim on their website that the north London giants are actively seeking to secure a new right-back, centre-back, box-to-box midfielder and back-up goalkeeper before the 1 September cut-off.
It is said that Spurs are in advanced talks with Celta Vigo to sign central midfielder Pape Cheikh Diop after having a £9million bid rejected last week.
The Londoners have been out-bid for Diop by Lyon but the Spain youth international, 20, is keen to join Spurs and there is confidence the deal can be secured.
With the transfer deadline now just two weeks away, Tottenham are also working on three other deals.
The Mail report they are in talks with Ajax about Colombia defender Davinson Sanchez, who is rated at more than £30million.
Spurs are lining up a £3m deal for back-up goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga of Southampton after 2016-17 loanee Pau Lopez returned to Spain this summer.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are also among the Premier League teams keen to prise right-back Serge Aurier from Paris Saint-Germain amid reports that Spurs agreed terms with the player.
Spurs are the only Premier League club not to sign a single player this summer and it has been widely reported thst a number of their transfer targets have fallen through, including Everton’s Ross Barkley.
Football Insider verdict:
The pressure is on the Spurs top brass to strengthen a squad that appears worryingly short of numbers ahead of the new campaign. With Danny Rose going public with his fears, a stance that will surely be shared by many of his teammates, the club’s transfer policy is firmly under the microscope. The signing of young guns who Rose would surely have to Google will not cut the mustard. Proven stars are needed, as well as potential ones, which is why it is imperative that the likes of Sanchez and Aurier can be signed before the 31 August cut-off.
In other Tottenham transfer news, the club are to finalise a £45million-valued signing today after terms agreed.
