‘Tottenham agree £10m deal as new arrival heads in’ – Stefan Borson
Tottenham are set to pay out up to £10million after a deal has been agreed.
Spurs announced on Thursday (12 June) Thomas Frank has been appointed as their new head coach on a three-year deal.
Frank emerged as the north London giants’ top target for the vacancy after they decided to part ways with Ange Postecoglou last week.
The 51-year-old took charge at Brentford in 2018 before going on to achieve promotion to the Premier League in 2021 and cement their place in the top flight.
Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Tottenham’s qualification for next season’s Champions League will offset the compensation owed to Brentford and Postecoglou following their managerial change.
Postecoglou will receive a £5million payout from Spurs after they decided to end his contract two years early.
The Australian manager also earned a £2million bonus after winning the Europa League last month.

Champions League windfall to cover Tottenham compensation
Borson insisted Tottenham will have paid Brentford £10million to release Frank from his contract.
He told Football Insider: “The compensation is what it is.
“I’m sure they’ve known for some time what that number is. I suspect it’s contractual. I suspect that they haven’t even bothered negotiating it because they don’t really have anywhere to go on it.
“They have decided that they want the manager, so I think it’s all factored in. It’s probably £10million. That seems to be the going rate that people have been receiving for these sorts of managerial changes.
“When you look at what Leicester got for Maresca, and I think Brighton got even more for Potter, but £10million feels like the going rate.
“Then, of course, you’ve got the compensation for Postecoglou on the way out. But as I say, it’s all built into the thinking way before they made the final decision to do it.
“It’s the cost of doing business offset by Champions League football next season, the prize money for winning the Europa League, plus the Super Cup prize money that they’re going to get just by attending.
“So, it’s just unavoidable really.”

Tottenham could accept ‘very lucrative’ Son offer
In terms of a potential exit, Football Insider revealed on 10 June Tottenham chiefs could go over Frank’s head and accept a “very lucrative” bid for Son Heung-min.
The 32-year-old winger is once again a target for Saudi Pro League clubs this summer.
Sources say an executive decision could be taken by the club instead of Frank if a lucrative offer arrives for the South Korea international.
