‘Tottenham already have blueprint to secure Ange Postecoglou replacement’

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou won out against Man United and Ruben Amorim on Sunday (16 February) but remains under serious sack pressure.

Spurs were dumped out of both domestic cup competitions a week earlier and sit 12th in the Premier League table despite the win over United.

The Europa League is now the only chance for Postecoglou to deliver on his pre-season promise of silverware at Tottenham – a feat which hasn’t been achieved since their 2008 League Cup win.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – lifted the lid on Spurs’ plans to potentially replace the Australian.

Tottenham will want ‘attacking’ replacement for Postecoglou

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed Tottenham have to stick with the “attacking football blueprint” established by Postecoglou if he is to leave.

Antonio Conte was his predecessor in north London and faced big criticism for his negative brand of football.

Wyness insisted chairman Daniel Levy will be conscious of the fans’ desire to watch attractive football.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Spurs are in a bit of a spiral right now, it’s going to take some shifting.

“If they are to move on from Ange, they’ve got to stick with this attacking football blueprint.

“West Ham have got the same issue, and that sort of football is what Spurs fans desire.

“If Levy is going to fill the big stadium, he’s got to keep fans in with this quality football.

“I think this will be part of the template, no matter what manager they have, they will go for attacking football.”

Liverpool ‘very keen’ on Tottenham star

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on Saturday (15 February) that Liverpool are “very keen” on signing Tottenham star Micky van de Ven this summer.

The Reds want a new centre-back even if Virgil van Dijk signs a new contract to extend his stay at Anfield beyond the end of this season.

Van de Ven is hugely rated by Arne Slot, who knows a lot about the 23-year-old’s capabilities and character from their respective backgrounds in the Netherlands.
