Tottenham already have one player they want to sign in January

Tottenham are likely to move for a centre-back in the January transfer window after missing out on a key target this summer.

The North London side have added a number of exciting talents over the last few months, signing Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, and Randal Kolo Muani on loan.

Spurs had their work cut out as deals for both Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze fell through, but still managed to bolster their attacking ranks with the aforementioned trio.

However, Thomas Frank would not have been fully satisfied as the transfer deadline passed, with Tottenham failing to address an area of concern.

Tottenham miss out on signing left centre-back

According to The Athletic, Tottenham explored adding a left-sided centre-back to their ranks in the summer, but could not find the right player in the market.

As a result, Spurs could make a move for an experienced centre-half in January, in order to protect against any injuries to key players.

Cristian Romero signed a new contract with Tottenham last month, but has had his fitness issues in the past, as has defensive partner, Mickey van de Ven.

Thomas Frank has backup options for his centre-back pairing, but new signing Kota Takai is struggling with a foot injury, and Radu Dragusin is coming back from an ACL tear, which could leave the North London side light in defence.

Tottenham to accept offers for midfielder

Meanwhile, Tottenham will accept a suitable offer for Yves Bissouma in the coming days after a fall-out with Frank, sources have told Football Insider.

Both Everton and West Ham explored deals to sign the 28-year-old late in the transfer window, but neither club advanced their interest before the deadline.

Frank left Bissouma out of Tottenham’s UEFA Super Cup squad last month after his repeated lateness for training, and sources say that Spurs will listen to offers for the midfielder.

Bissouma could be on his way to the Saudi Pro League or Turkish SuperLig, with both competitions’ transfer windows still open.
