Tottenham and Chelsea ‘will be charged’ – PGMOL expert re-analyses explosive footage
Tottenham and Chelsea should both expect to hear from the FA regarding charges after the two teams clashed in the Premier League.
That is according to former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA referee, Keith Hackett, who exclusively told Football Insider that the clubs could face punishment for failing to control their players on Saturday, 1 November.
Joao Pedro continued haunting Tottenham as the former Brighton man scored the only goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Thomas Frank‘s players showing very little fight against their rivals.
Things could have gone from bad to worse had Jarred Gillett taken appropriate action after Rodrigo Bentancur crunched into a challenge on Reece James, which left the Blues defender in agony.

Both Randal Kolo Muani and Xavi Simons were bashed after the full-time whistle, but most fans had their eye on one player who decided to snub the manager and walk straight towards the tunnel.
Djed Spence was clearly upset by the Chelsea defeat, and players’ actions were a huge focus throughout the game after a large group clashed over Bentancur’s first-half challenge.
The FA are always keeping a close eye on games, with Arsenal recently facing punishment for failing to control players, and this could now happen to Spurs and Chelsea following the weekend’s derby.
FA likely to take action after Tottenham and Chelsea players clash
Hackett spoke exclusively to Football Insider about potential repercussions after several players clashed over Bentancur’s foul on James in the London derby.
“They will be charged with failing to control their players. Jarred Gillett had a good game overall. He didn’t get too involved, and he let the game breathe,” he said.
“But it’s a balance. From my view, it’s a red card, and you can see from the players’ reactions, they don’t want to be on the receiving end of these challenges. The PGMOL needs to get its act together.”
The victory saw the Blues move level on points with their rivals, only separated by goal difference after 10 matches of the Premier League season.
