Tottenham and Everton learn what it will take to sign Marcos Senesi amid Bournemouth enquiry

Marcos Senesi is holding out for a salary worth around £3.5million a year as he prepares to leave Bournemouth this summer.

The centre-back is set to leave the Cherries as a free agent when his contract expires at the end of the campaign, and he is currently asking for his wage to be doubled compared to his current deal, according to journalist Gianluca Vitale via his X account.

Napoli are understood to have made an enquiry over the 28-year-old’s availability, while there is also interest from Juventus in his signature.

Senesi has been a standout performer for Bournemouth so far this season, and as a result, there is a whole host of Premier League clubs that are keen to progress towards a deal in the coming months.

Vitale adds that Senesi’s lofty wage demands are due to the fact that he will be available without clubs needing to pay a transfer fee.

Tottenham and Everton in battle for Marcos Senesi

Senesi’s imminent availability has already caught the attention of several clubs in both the Premier League and beyond.

The Argentine defender also holds an Italian passport, which is thought to be a key reason behind the interest from Serie A in the form of Napoli and Juventus.

However, a move elsewhere in the Premier League could also be on the cards for him this summer, as Tottenham, Everton and Aston Villa are preparing to do battle for his signature, according to Ekrem Konur.

The North East duo of Sunderland and Newcastle are also keen on the Bournemouth star, who has started all but one of the 26 league games for Andoni Iraola so far in 2025-26.

Napoli’s enquiry into his services looks set to see the race for his signature heat up in the coming weeks, and it is now clear to Tottenham, Everton and the rest of the chasing pack, exactly what it will take to do business with him and his agent.

Spurs surely best placed to seal Senesi deal

Tottenham have endured a dismal season in the Premier League once again this term, as they currently find themselves in the thick of the relegation battle.

However, despite their struggles, the Lilywhites are surely the team who are best-placed to meet Senesi’s wage demands when it comes to planning their squad for next season.

The defender’s £3.5m demands equate to a weekly wage of around £67,000, and Spurs’ participation in the Champions League this term is surely likely to make them more capable of tabling a contract of that value than any of the other suitors.

However, a move to North London would see Senesi compete alongside the duo of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, who are undoubtedly two of the division’s best centre-backs on their day.

With that in mind, while Spurs have the most financial power of the chasing pack, it is far too early for the rest to give up any hope of landing the Bournemouth man.
