Tottenham are being run like an NFL team after confirmed Daniel Levy news – expert
Tottenham are being run like an NFL team thanks to Daniel Levy’s “clever” business sense.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham, Leeds and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson made the claim due to the club’s stadium, training ground and their business ties with the NFL.
Levy confirmed via a statement in the publishing of the club’s latest accounts earlier this month that talks have been held with investors.
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has hosted NFL matches in recent times, along with other events outside of football such as music concerts.
Tottenham being run like NFL team
Finance expert Kieran Maguire told Football Insider on Wednesday (10 April) that Levy deserves praise for his role in financing the club’s new stadium.
He explained that the North London outfit are currently generating £80million more each season compared to their figures from their former ground White Hart Lane.
“It’s not a transformation, it’s just Daniel Levy’s clever business sense again,” Robinson told the Inside Track podcast. “The way that he’s run the club, the highest-valued club in London.
“You look at the impact that the NFL has had with the stadium share, with the games they’ve had there, and the American investment that has come into the Premier League.
“You can see why the American investment is coming into the Premier League and into Europe, because they can make a bigger difference. The revenue, the performance on the pitch, because the NFL still doesn’t allow private equity investment.
“As owners in the Premier League, they have a lot more input and a lot more effect on the business.
“You look at the way NFL teams are run… Tottenham are heading that way. The stadium, the training ground, there is talk of a potential NFL-specific training ground.
“The smallest club in the NFL – the Cincinnati Bengals – is worth $3.5billion, which is £2.8billion.
“The revenue, the investment and the way that those clubs are run is the way that the investment in the Premier League is heading.
“Not to that type of scale immediately, but Daniel is involved with that with his NFL ties, and you can see the American investment that has come elsewhere in the Premier League.

“The San Francisco 49ers have done a similar thing with Leeds United with their stake. But it’s not just the investment that comes into the club, it’s the wealth of business knowledge and experience, and how to develop a sports club into such a multi-national, billion-pound industry.”
