Tottenham are working quickly on tying Christian Eriksen to a new contract amid concern he could be seduced by interest from rival Premier League clubs, according to a reliable journalist.
Spurs correspondent Marc Benamram reported on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday night that Eriksen’s situation is a tricky one for the club as he enters the final two years of his current deal this summer.
Benamram claims that the north Londoners are “moving swiftly” to end doubts about the Denmark international’s future by agreeing a long-term contract.
Whilst #THFC are not open to the idea of selling Eriksen, the situation is somewhat complicated by the player only having 2 years left on his current contract.

This comes amid reports, including from the Sun, that the attacking midfielder, 26, wants “parity” with some of the English top flight’s top earners after taking his game to a new level this season.
Eriksen has been in outstanding form for Spurs and it is said that he is aware of interest from top clubs across the globe.

Football Insider verdict:
Spurs fans would find it difficult to forgive Daniel Levy and the top brass if the club were unable to hold on to Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose this summer. Of the three, Rose is expendable, but the other two are not, and Eriksen has demonstrated this season that he is one of the three or four most important players in the team. Tottenham will be desperate to keep hold of him, which gives the player some serious negotiating power in contract talks. It is a reflection of his importance to the team that Mauricio Pochettino selected him in the starting line-up v Brighton last night even though he rung the changes and rotated many regulars. The manager just can’t do without the team’s conductor, who has added a greater goal threat to his game this season, which has yielded 14 goals and 11 assists from 41 matches. Surely, there is no way Tottenham can lose Alderweireld and Eriksen in the same summer? Expect the club to yield to Eriksen’s demands at a time when he is entering the peak years of his career.
In other Tottenham news, it can be revealed that the club have been handed a stunning £52million windfall.
