Tottenham backed to accept ‘early’ Son Heung-min offer amid Thomas Frank claim

Son Heung-min’s Tottenham future could be decided early in the transfer window following the arrival of Thomas Frank as the new manager.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what source’s have told him about the 32-year-old’s long-term future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Growing interest from Saudi Pro League clubs has emerged as the winger enters the final year of his contract, and a “lucrative offer” could see Spurs cash in.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 10 June that Tottenham could accept offers for Son, with this summer’s window seen as the ideal opportunity to cash in.

However, Frank is expected to want a say over the club captain’s future and sources say he is reluctant to lose an influential player shortly after his arrival.

Football Insider revealed on 9 June that Ange Postecoglou’s replacement will decide Son’s future, with the new boss now set to have his say.

Tottenham stance on Son Heung-min sale revealed

Football Insider revealed last month that Tottenham are planning to keep Son at the club beyond the summer transfer window despite a frustrating season.

However, amid growing interest from the Middle East, they may find offers difficult to turn down as they could raise funds rather than losing him for free next year.

O’Rourke explained that Frank would ideally like to keep the South Korea international in North London, but it may be taken out of his hands.

There’s potential something could happen early in the window,” he told Football Insider.

“There is growing interest from the Saudi Pro League, and the South Korea international is now going into the final year of his contract at Tottenham.

“If Tottenham are ready to cash in on Son, this is their last opportunity to get a decent fee for him.

“Thomas Frank will want to have some say over what’s going to happen.

“He’s a legend at Tottenham, he’s been there for a decade now and he captained them to Europa League success.

“I think, ideally, Frank would like to keep Son because he doesn’t want to lose his club captain just after taking over the new job.

“He still has something to offer Tottenham, but if a lucrative offer does arrive it’s something they will consider due to his age and contract situation.”

Bryan Mbeumo update emerges after Thomas Frank hire

Amid ongoing speculation about Son’s future, Spurs are aiming to strengthen their attacking options with Bryan Mbeumo among their targets.

Football Insider revealed on 13 June that Tottenham could hijack Man United’s deal for Mbeumo with the possibility of him linking up with his former Brentford boss,

However, Mick Brown told Football Insider on 9 June that Ruben Amorim’s side are closing in on Mbeumo and are expected to reach an agreement.

Meanwhile, sources say talks are ongoing with Brentford while the Cameroon international has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford.
