Tottenham backed to agree Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg deal amid ‘£60m’ transfer claim – pundit
Noel Whelan has claimed Tottenham could save “£60million” in the transfer market by keeping Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg at the club with an extended deal.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the Denmark international is now one of the “first names on the teamsheet” for Antonio Conte.
According to The Times (27 October), Tottenham are ready to offer the 27-year-old a fresh contract as a reward for his “impressive performances” this term.

The report claims his current deal, which runs until June 2025, is worth around £100,000-a-week.
Football Insider on revealed on 20 August that Hojbjerg is attracting strong interest from Real Madrid after becoming a linchpin of Antonio Conte’s midfield since his arrival.
He had started all 11 of Spurs’ Premier League matches prior to their 2-1 loss against Newcastle on Sunday (23 October).
Whelan insisted the midfielder has “proven everyone wrong” after his “bemusing” arrival from Southampton in 2020.
When asked if Hojbjerg deserves a bumper pay rise for his efforts, he told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “He does.
“I was a little bit bemused when he came in from Southampton, but he’s really proved everyone wrong.
“He’s a very good central midfield player. He’s got better and better, and he is now one of the first names on the teamsheet.

“This news doesn’t surprise me because if you let him run down his contract and leave, with the performances he’s put in – you’re probably talking about £60million to bring in a similar player.
“It makes a lot of sense to keep him around and hope he can keep improving as he enters his prime.”
