Tottenham backed to sell star and sign Stefan de Vrij after source’s update – expert
Tottenham will not sign Stefan de Vrij in January unless one of their existing centre-backs leaves the club.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
On 10 December, sources told Football Insider that Tottenham have emerged as the frontrunners to sign De Vrij with a January deal possible.

Atletico Madrid are also interested with the two teams now leading the race to land De Vrij, who turns 31 in February and is increasingly likely to leave the Italian giants next year with his contract due to expire at the end of the season.
Wenham insists Japhet Tanganga or Davinson Sanchez will have to leave the club before De Vrij can arrive.
When asked if he’s expecting Tottenham to sign a new centre-half in January, Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild, “it depends on who leaves.
“If Japhet gets a move out, if an offer comes in for him, which there has been talk about, that could lead to something.
“I certainly think that we won’t get anyone in unless someone else leaves, I think that’s certain. You have to look at the futures of Japhet and Davinson Sanchez.
“I think whatever happens with them will tell us. I think we only sign anyone if one or both of them go.

“Sanchez has been unconvincing recently and Japhet can’t get a look in.
“It’s not out of the question but I think we need to see outgoings.”
