Tottenham bag £27m+ after four deals terminated – sources

Tottenham have already cut more than £27million from their wage bill after releasing several players this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Spurs confirmed four players will officially leave the club on 30 June following the expiration of their contracts.

Eric Dier, Japhet Tanganga, Ivan Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon have all been released, while Tottenham reached an agreement with Tanguy Ndombele to end his contract a year early.

Football Insider revealed the club agreed to pay the French midfielder £5million to cut his spell in north London short after spending last season on loan at Fenerbahce.

Ndombele is understood to be the highest earner of the five players leaving Spurs, having signed a six-year contract on £200,000-a-week following his club-record £63million move from Lyon in 2019.

Tottenham make considerable savings after senior player exits

Perisic earned around £178,000 per week at Tottenham before recently agreeing a permanent deal with boyhood club Hajduk Split, where he spent the second half of last season on loan.

Dier pocketed roughly £72,000-a-week, while Sessegnon earned almost £58,000 and Tanganga was on £23,000 weekly.

Sources have told Football Insider Tottenham have cut around £27.6million from their wage bill following their early-summer departures.

While Spurs are not believed to be close to breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR), player wages accounted for £251.1million of the club’s spending in their most recent accounts.

There are expected to be more exits in north London over the coming weeks as Ange Postecoglou is planning to revamp his squad this summer.
