Saturday’s match against Swansea saw Pochettino utilise a 3-5-1 formation, but despite the supposed added attacking threat the system offers his side were lacking the desired cutting edge.
With Tuesday’s clash coming against a Barnsley side who are languishing towards the bottom of the Championship table, the Spurs boss will likely see this as an opportunity to experiment with what he has to work with.
He may well continue with three at the back, but expect him to shake it up in midfield, as he looks to develop the alternative tactics he lacked in the Swansea draw.
Alternatively he could revert to four at the back, as he looks to rest a number of his top stars after their hectic schedule.
