Sources: Tottenham submitting Alessandro Bastoni bid after Paratici gets inside information

Tottenham are submitting an opening bid for Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni this weekend, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

This site revealed on Wednesday that Spurs have identified Bastoni, 23, as their first choice left-sided centre-back this summer.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that the club are now ready to table what will be a big-money first offer for Bastoni this weekend.

The Londoners, led by managing director and transfer negotiator Fabio Paratici, have learned Inter Milan are strapped for cash and could be forced to sell one of their prize assets this summer.

Paratici wants to exploit this by negotiating an early-window deal that would then give Inter plenty of time to secure a replacement.

Bastoni has emerged as Spurs’ number one target for the specific left-sided centre-back role that Paratici and Antonio Conte regard as crucial to the team’s development.

The other two targets for the position are RB Leipzig’s Javier Gvardiol and Villarreal’s Pau Torres.

Bastoni is well known to Conte after he managed him during his time in charge of Inter from 2019-2021.

The centre-back is used to playing in a three-man defence and and has been a regular in recent seasons, usually on the left of a trio also including previous Spurs targets Stefan de Vrij and Milan Skriniar.

He made 36 Serie A and Champions League starts among 44 appearances in all competitions in the recently-completed campaign.

Bastoni, who has 11 Italy caps, joined Inter from Atalanta for £27million in 2017 and has previously described Conte as a “phenomenal” coach.
