‘Tottenham big-name trio to lead summer exodus’

Tottenham are facing a mass exodus of players this summer as they plot a potential overhaul of Ange Postecoglou’s first-team squad.

Qualification for the Champions League next season is seen as vital to their summer plans with a number of incoming players targeted.

However, if they fail to win the Europa League, financial concerns mean they will aim to sell players before they spend in the transfer window.

Former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who remains well-connected at the club, told Football Insider that Mathys Tel, Cristian Romero and Richarlison could kickstart the exodus.

Tel will “definitely” return to Bayern Munich following his loan spell, while interest in both Romero and Richarlison could tempt Tottenham to sell.

Tottenham eye three major player sales amid financial concerns

Former Spurs scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 28 April that Tel will return to Bayern Munich unless Tottenham can renegotiate his buy clause.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are open to offers for Romero and Everton are eyeing a move for Richarlison as part of a major overhaul of the first-team squad.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Robinson explained that financial concerns have emerged behind the scenes and failure to qualify for the Champions League will mean players have to be sold.

Mathys Tel will be going back to Bayern,” he told Football Insider.

“He’ll definitely be going back because he’s not pulled up any trees since being at Tottenham.

“There’s a lot of links with Romero and Atletico Madrid.

“He’s not been able to stay fit, not played regularly, he’s been injured and suspended a lot, so Romero is one they may look at leaving.

“Richarlison is an obvious one, there’s links with him moving away all the time.

“For Tottenham, regardless of whether it’s FFP, PSR, cash flow issues or whatever it is, nobody will know what the budget looks like until they know if they’re playing in the Champions League.”

Ange Postecoglou update emerges after Europa League progress

Amid speculation about a number of potential departures in North London, Postecoglou’s future remains uncertain amid continued sack pressure.

Football Insider revealed Postecoglou could stay at Tottenham if he leads his side to Europa League success at the end of the season.

After having reached the final, where they will face Man United, the boss’ future could rest on the outcome of a single game.

Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider that Fulham boss Marco Silva wants to join Spurs as he wants to make a step up to a bigger club.
