Tottenham blown away by loan star who they see as long-term first-teamer in North London
Luka Vuskovic’s impressive progress out on loan at Hamburg has convinced Tottenham chiefs that he will be a key player for the club in the years to come.
Tottenham fans have been waiting a long time to see Vuskovic in action for their club after he was initially signed from Hajduk Split for £12million in 2023 at 16-years-old.
That big fee clearly shows that he has been highly-rated while progressing as a youngster, and he was handed numerous first-team chances in pre-season by Thomas Frank after finally joining the club in July this year.
Spurs looked set to keep the 18-year-old around for this campaign, but he requested to leave on loan and joined German club Hamburg for the season at the end of the summer window.
Vuskovic has been a standout in the Bundesliga for newly-promoted HSV, and a new update on his future at Spurs has emerged after he scored a goal of the season contender against Werder Bremen last time out.
Vuskovic ‘key’ to Tottenham’s long-term plans as club closely watch his loan performances
Recent reports have stated that Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are interested in Vuskovic following his strong start to the campaign, but Spurs are not set to allow him to depart permanently anytime soon.
According to a new report from Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham are “constantly monitoring” Vuskovic’s progress and see him as a “key part” of their long-term plans.
He has been a regular starter this season for Hamburg at just 18-years-old, with two goals in 13 games in all competitions and the Bundesliga club known to be “very happy” with loan showings so far.
What Vuskovic has said about his future at Tottenham
Vuskovic’s fine form saw him make his first start for Croatia’s senior side against Faroe Islands last month as they won 3-1 to qualify for the World Cup.
Tottenham’s long-term centre-back situation is uncertain with Micky Van de Ven linked to Liverpool, but Vuskovic admitted he is unsure when he will be a part of Frank’s squad once more while away with his country.

He said: “I’m happy with everything at HSV. My grades are good, even above expectations. Tottenham? I hear from them, they follow me.
“They are a good club when it comes to developing young players. I don’t know when I will be back.”
Tottenham have no plans to recall the 18-year-old from Germany anytime soon, while his contract in North London runs until 2030, so it certainly seems likely that he is set to be an important part of their backline in the years to come.
