Tottenham chiefs tipped to launch appeal over ‘crazy’ issue after Nuno reveal – pundit
Kevin Phillips has insisted Tottenham will appeal to the “powers that be” in order to solve the problems surrounding international scheduling.
The former Sunderland hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed it was “crazy” for the north London club to be missing a host of key men for their trip to Newcastle on Sunday.
As quoted by the Guardian in his pre-match press conference yesterday (October 15th), manager Nuno Espirito Santo revealed he has “big issues” ahead of Sunday’s clash.

Two key players have reportedly gone into isolation after testing positive for Covid-19.
The Portuguese boss also slammed football’s powers, claiming it is becoming “harder” for players to return “healthy” from international duty.
As per Sky Sports (October 15th), Emerson Royal, Giovani Lo Celso, Cristian Romero and Davinson Sanchez could all miss Sunday’s clash after taking part in internationals on Thursday and Friday.
Phillips suggested Spurs would make their case to officials to avoid future problems.
“I think the international scheduling definitely needs to be looked at,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“Especially where we are now with the abundance of private travel.
“I saw that about 16-plus players could miss out on playing for their clubs this weekend.
“The clubs are relying on these players. They’re crucial for them – whether they are challenging for the title or trying to stay in the league.

“They are paying these players big money – and at the moment they are missing a lot of games.
“I’m sure it will be addressed. It is crazy. The Tottenham hierarchy will be putting their case across to the powers that be.”
