Tottenham considering ‘excellent’ forward who will be sold on one condition
Tottenham have been named as one to watch in their efforts to strengthen their squad in 2026, according to their former scout.
Mick Brown, who also worked as a senior scout at Man United and Aston Villa and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that Thomas Frank is not “completely satisfied” with the club’s summer business.
Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers emerged as a key target during the summer window, and they are now well-placed to follow up their interest in the attacking midfielder.
While a January move is considered highly unlikely as things stand, the England international remains high on the list of target for a number of top clubs.
This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed on 25 August that Tottenham held preliminary discussions about signing Rogers.

Tottenham may step up interest in signing Morgan Rogers
Brown told Football Insider on 28 August that Tottenham were speaking to Villa about Rogers and whether a late deal could be agreed before the summer deadline.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that Spurs are one of a number of clubs who could tempt the forward away from Villa Park.
“He did an excellent job for Villa last year,” he told Football Insider.
“They don’t look like quite the same side this year, they’ve had a poor start to the season and there are going to be a few questions asked. It will raise doubts about the future of some of their players, and Rogers is one of them.
“There are a lot of clubs interested in him, and I’m told Tottenham are one of them. They want to add to the players they brought in during the summer, and I don’t think they’re completely satisfied with the business they’ve done.

“I know a lot of people are head over heels for him, I don’t quite have that same view but he’s certainly proving to be a very good player.
“If Villa continue the poor start, there’s no reason he wouldn’t be looking at potential options if these interested clubs come forward. It’s not something I would expect to happen in January because of the money it would take and how important he is for Villa, but maybe next summer.
“I know Tottenham are big admirers of his so they might be one to keep an eye on, but if he becomes available there will be a lot of clubs on alert.”
Tottenham’s interest in the summer was joined by the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea, with no shortage of interest in the England star’s signature.
Aston Villa will only consider Rogers sale on one condition
Villa have endured a difficult start to the season and are without a win or a goal in three games, raising questions about their decline since last term.
Emery could come under pressure at Aston Villa as a result of their poor start, while questions have been raised about the long-term futures of their top stars.
With Champions League clubs including the likes of Tottenham and Chelsea showing strong interest in Rogers, there is a chance he could be tempted to jump ship if their bad form continues.

Football Insider revealed on 31 August that Aston Villa will fight to keep Rogers at the club and only a “huge” offer would get a deal over the line.
However, their position could be threatened if they continue to lose games with a number of clubs poised to swoop and bring him in.
