Kieran Maguire: Tottenham set to rake it in as ‘premium’ investment in line to pay off
Tottenham could rake it in from hosting matches at the 2028 European Championship thanks to their premium-price seats.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the earning power of the Londoners’ stadium.
The arena is in line to host matches at Euro 2028, which is set to be held across the UK and Ireland, per the Daily Mail last Thursday (4 March).
Spurs already host NFL fixtures and heavyweight boxing matches at the 63,000-seater venue in order to maximise profit.
And this site revealed last Friday (5 March) that the club is in talks over £500million, 20-year naming rights deal.
Maguire explains how Spurs’ choice to invest in premium facilities at the ground will drive revenue at Euro 2028.
“They make a lot of money from catering generally, around £800,000 per match,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“But Uefa themselves have an official alcohol partner and catering partners etcetera. So it won’t be as lucrative as it might have been historically.
“But what Spurs have in their favour is that they have lots of premium-price seats in the stadium.
“Presumably, they will be getting a commission for each of those sold as well as a portion of catering receipts in those areas.”
Turkey and Russia have dropped out of the Euro 2028 bidding process, leaving the pathway open for the UK and Ireland.
Tottenham are 7th in the Premier League after their 3-2 defeat to Man United yesterday (12 March).
