Tottenham could seal ‘signing of the summer’ after Sky’s Lingard update – pundit
Tottenham could complete “the signing of the summer” in Jesse Lingard, according to Kevin Phillips.
The 2000 European Golden Shoe winner, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, is adamant the 29-year-old “would be a great signing” for Antonio Conte’s side given his “work rate and ability”.
Lingard has entered the final six months of his contract at Old Trafford.

According to Sky Sports (11 January), Spurs have approached the Man United attacker’s representatives over a summer move.
The England international struggled for game time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his fortunes have not improved under Ralf Rangnick.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his thoughts on a potential move to Spurs, Phillips said: “That would be a great signing.
“I would have reservations if they had to pay a fair few quid but on a free it is a no-brainer.
“I think that could be the signing of the summer, especially if he puts in performances like he did at West Ham.
“I think he’d be a good fit at Tottenham. His work rate and his ability will appeal to Conte.

“It depends where he goes in a plays but you’d think it would. be as one of those players in behind [Harry] Kane. He could be the replacement for Dele Alli, if he leaves as expected.
“There’s no doubt about it, on a free, Lingard would be a great signing.”
In other news, a pundit has claimed Hugo Lloris now has just two games to save his Tottenham career after a Conte reveal.
