Tottenham could sign Paul Pogba on ‘massive contract’ after reliable journalist’s update – pundit
Tottenham and Arsenal could attempt to lure Paul Pogba to north London in the summer, according to Kevin Phillips.
However, the 2000 European Golden Shoe winner, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, fears the 28-year-old’s wage demands would be “massive” for either club to take on.
Pogba‘s contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of this season.
According to The Telegraph‘s Mike McGrath (16 February), the France international is open to a move to another Premier League club.
Spurs manager Antonio Conte worked with the centre-midfielder while at Juventus between 2012 and 2014.
Phillips believes Conte’s prior relationship with Pogba could result in a move.
“It’s an interesting one,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.
“The big question is, who can afford him?
“There’s no way he would go to Man City and I can’t see him going to Chelsea either. When I look at it, those two clubs are out of the question.
“I think Tottenham could be an option though. Would he be able to play under Conte in that system? Conte certainly got the best out of him at Juventus. That relationship makes it possible.
“Arsenal is another club. He could slot in alongside Thomas Partey.

“The financial side of it would be big. It’s going to be a massive contract for someone to take on. Will you get the best out of Pogba week in, week out?
“I think it’s more likely that he goes abroad, in all honesty.”
In other news, a pundit has claimed Tottenham could sign Antonio Rudiger on two conditions amid ‘unbelievable’ verdict.
