Danny Rose issued a confident message to Tottenham fans ahead of the north London derby regarding Arsenal as not a team to fear.
In an interview with talkSPORT’s Ian Abraham which was conducted after England’s 0-0 draw with the Brazil, Rose was unfazed by Spurs being seen as the favourites for the clash.
He said: “I’ve just been told we’re favourites. It doesn’t really matter to us, the job is the same.
“We don’t feel Arsenal are anyone to be scared of, and we will be going into that game looking to win and I have full belief in my teammates that we can do it.”
Tottenham do go into the game better placed in the league table, sitting third with Arsenal down in sixth after 11 games played.
Spurs have won 23 points, four more than the Gunners, so a win in the north London derby would still not take the Gunners above Tottenham in the table.
Last season was the first time in years that Spurs were able to finish above Arsenal, as they came second with the Gunners failing to even qualify for the Champions League by finishing fifth.
Despite the higher league finish, there was no clear winner over the course of the sides’ three meetings last season.
Arsenal achieved a 2-1 victory over Tottenham in the League Cup before drawing 1-1 in their league clash at the Emirates.
Spurs went on to defeat Arsenal 2-0 when they hosted their league meeting, with that game being the most recent match-up between the sides.
