Jan Vertonghen will undergo a scan on Monday to learn the extent of his ankle injury, according to a reliable journalist.
London-based Belgian reporter Kristof Terreur revealed on Twitter that the Tottenham defender will find out the damage he suffered in the 4-0 victory against West Brom on Saturday.
Terreur, who works for publication HLN and is known for his links to the Premier League-based Belgium players, added that there is “fear for serious ligament damage”.

Vertonghen looked to be in a lot of pain when he went down clutching his ankle and the prospect of the player facing a lengthy lay-off is a grim one for Tottenham fans.
The Belgian centre-back is one of Mauricio Pochettino’s key players and he will be sorely missed if the outcome is as negative as expected.

Tottenham have already suffered some high-profile injuries this season as Toby Alderweireld and Harry Kane were both absent for two months last year.
Alderweireld returned to form Tottenham’s terrific centre-back partnership with Vertonghen but he may be forced to play alongside either Kevin Wimmer, Eric Dier or Ben Davies.
Spurs have been in great form recently, winning nine of their last 10 games in all competitions, and showing signs they can challenge for the title for the second consecutive season.
In other Tottenham news, Redknapp gave his verdict on this transfer target.
