Tottenham delegation jets out to explore new deal this week – sources

Tottenham chiefs have jetted out to Australia to explore, and potentially strike, new commercial deals for the club this week, sources have told Football Insider.

The North London outfit organised a post-season trip to Australia with the squad flying out just hours after the end of their Premier League campaign.

Ange Postecoglou’s side faced Premier League rivals Newcastle United at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Wednesday (22 May), where they lost 5-4 on penalties after drawing 1-1 in 90 minutes.

The trip was part of the Global Football Week at Melbourne and the Australian branch of AIA – who are partners of the club – were announced as the sponsors of Tottenham’s trip.

Tottenham chiefs explore off-pitch deal during Australia trip

Spurs have regularly visited the country in previous tours, including a pre-season visit last summer when Postecoglou took charge of his first match as manager.

Sources have told Football Insider that while the trip will help Tottenham connect with their growing fanbase in Australia, club chiefs have also joined the trip to consolidate commercial partners and explore further off-pitch deals.

Spurs have put a lot of focus into improving their commercial revenue and off-pitch income since the construction of their new stadium, with the club generating £228million in their latest club accounts.

Tottenham have also scheduled a trip to Japan which will take place in July – they will face Vissel Kobe and Bayern Munich as their final preparations before the Premier League resumes in August.
