Tottenham Exclusive: Club submit £1.6m Mason Melia bid

Bologna have submitted a £1.6million bid for Tottenham target Mason Melia, sources have told Football Insider.

Clubs across Europe are chasing the highly-rated St Patrick’s Athletic sensation following his goalscoring exploits for club and country in the last 18 months.

Serie A side Bologna have now firmed up their interest with a bid as they look to try and steal a march on their rivals for the teenager.

However, it is understood Tottenham remain in pole position to win the race for Melia’s signature.

The 17-year-old has visited Spurs’ training base and was a matchday guest for the visit of Chelsea last weekend.

Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (11 December) that Melia is also the subject of huge interest from other Premier League clubs – including Everton, Crystal Palace and Brighton.

He cannot make the move to England until he turns 18 next September.

Tottenham remain in pole position to seal Melia deal

Melia has made 35 appearances across all competitions for St Pat’s in 2024, notching seven goals and two assists.

The centre-forward, who is under contract in Dublin until November 2026, has already experienced European football after playing in Uefa Conference League qualifying earlier this year.

He made his senior debut at the age of just 15 years and 132 days and has already played 54 first-team games – scoring 10 goals.

Melia has been prolific for the Republic of Ireland at youth level and earned his first Under-21 call-up in October.

In other news, Tottenham could terminate 21-year-old’s loan deal.
