Tottenham expected 3-4-3 v Southampton: 23-year-old axed in four changes

By Dominic Toner

Tottenham are expected to make four changes to their side against Southampton as the injured Harry Kane drops out of the starting line-up.

The 23-year-old has suffered ligament damage to his right ankle and Sky Sports report he is estimated to be out for between four to six weeks.

Kane is set to be a major miss for Spurs after scoring 24 goals in just 29 appearances for the north London club this season.

Mauricio Pochettino is set to make four alterations from the side that dispatched Millwall 6-0 in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Hugo Lloris, Kyle Walker, Mousa Dembele and Christian Eriksen are set to be restored to the starting XI.

Meanwhile, Michel Vorm, Kieran Trippier, Harry Winks and Kane are expected to drop out.

Spurs’ number one Hugo Lloris is set to return to his position in goal for the league clash, meaning Vorm drops back down to the bench.

Meanwhile, Pochettino is expected to stick with his trusted three-man defence to Eric Dier, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.

There is set to be two changes to the midfield as Walker replaces Trippier at wing-back, and youngster Winks is replaced by experienced campaigner Dembele.

During Kane’s absence, Spurs are likely to select a frontline of Heung-Min Son, Dele Alli and Eriksen, meaning Vincent Janssen is once again left on the bench.

Janssen scored his first goal from open play against Millwall, but 14-goal Son is set to get the nod.
