Tottenham expected 4-2-3-1 v Gent: Attacker axed in three changes

By Amir Mir

Tottenham could make three changes to their starting XI when they take on Gent in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will travel to Belgium for the first leg of the round 32 stage clash after their 2-0 Premier League defeat against Liverpool at the weekend.

Attacker Son-Heung Min might be axed for the game, alongside centre-back Eric Dier and right-back Kyle Walker.

As a result, Moussa Sissoko could come into the team, with defensive duo Kevin Wimmer and Kieran Trippier also possibly making starts.

Pochettino will be looking to stamp his authority on this competition and might field a stronger side than many may expect.

Versatile attacker Sissoko would add freshness to the team as the fixture list piles up. He will be tasked to provide the service and threat alongside Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli.

Midfield powerhouses Mousa Dembele and Victor Wayama could also start and Pochettino will be hoping they can put the disappointing result at Anfield behind them.

Furthermore, Wimmer might be given a chance to impress alongside the experienced Toby Alderweireld after Dier produced a poor performance last time out.

In Europe last season, Pochettino had a tendency to rotate his full-backs and he might do that once again, this time bringing in Trippier for Walker.

Left-back Davies could keep his place in the team, despite being ripped to shreds by Sadio Mane as regular first choice Danny Rose is out injured.

The ever reliable Hugo Lloris might stay between the sticks as the north London club aim to pick up a win and clean sheet against the Belgian Pro League side.

In other Tottenham team news, Jamie Redknapp has stated that this Spurs player should be pestering the manager.
