Tottenham expected to axe star amid Richarlison claim – Robinson

Paul Robinson expects Richarlison to start for Tottenham against Wolves on Saturday.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-White Hart Lane number one suggested the 25-year-old did enough against Chelsea to warrant being handed his full debut.

Richarlison was a second-half substitute in a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge on Sunday (14 August).

The summer signing was suspended for Tottenham’s opening Premier League fixture against Southampton.

Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski have been selected as the front three for both games this season.

When asked by Football Insider if one of the trio could make way for Richarlison this weekend, Robinson said: “I think Richarlison will start.

“He came on and gave Spurs another dimension.

“Conte did not change the team against Chelsea because they played so well against Southampton.

“It was not a good performance at Stamford Bridge though. They didn’t play well in the first half and they barely improved in the second. It means there is an opportunity to change things up this weekend.

“Conte was loyal to those players who played against Southampton. Now we will see some of the new signings.

“Richarlison will be one of them. I thought he might start at the weekend actually. I was surprised Conte didn’t go with him although I understand why he didn’t.”
