Tottenham expert can't believe 'baffling' Giovani Lo Celso latest

Villarreal have the money to sign Giovani Lo Celso from Tottenham despite what the club may claim.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

A recruitment source told Football Insider (31 May) that Villarreal are in advanced talks to sign Lo Celso, 26, permanently following a successful loan spell with the La Liga side.

Lo Celso made 22 appearances for Villarreal after joining the club in January and played a key role in the club reaching the Champions League semi-finals.

Wenham can’t understand where their prize money has gone as a deal for Lo Celso remains uncompleted.

“We have a situation now where a club like Villarreal can reach the Champions League semi-finals which gets them £60million and they still claim they have no money,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I just find it very, very boring. I don’t know where the money goes in Spain, Italy and Turkey. They constantly claim to have no money.

“It’s nonsense, where does the money go? Where have Villarreal put this money? Are the directors taking dividends?

“I just find it to be the same old nonsense being chimed out time and time again. It’s baffling, I wish Tottenham would let me get on the phone with them.

“I want to see a copy of their tax returns, where is the money going? You have £60million in a payment from UEFA.

“Where is that? It doesn’t just vanish into thin air. They have been given that money, where has it gone?”

In other news, Tottenham have been backed to sanction an exit for Pape Matar Sarr.
