Tottenham expert can’t believe unexpected Carlos Tevez update as Hotspur Way news emerges

There is no chance of Carlos Tevez making a shock return to football with Tottenham.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Wenham, and many other Spurs fans, were taken by surprise when The Sun relayed a story from Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport on 9 April.

The report claimed Tevez, 38, is set to meet Antonio Conte at Hotspur Way at some point in the near future and this has “opened the door” to a potential return to the Premier League.

Tevez left Boca Juniors in the summer of 2021 and has been without a club since.

However, Wenham is certain he is not about to join Tottenham as a player.

“I was ready that before, it’s ridiculous, he hasn’t played for a couple of years now,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Even when he was playing it was over in South America.

“Maybe he’s a friend of Fabio Paratici, they will have been at Juventus at the same time.

“Maybe he’s a friend of Cristian Romero. It will be like well Del Piero popped in a few months ago and he and Conte just had a catch-up.

“It is utterly bizarre to suggest Tevez could be signing for Tottenham.

“I can categorically say that won’t happen.”

Tevez has made 202 appearances in the Premier League, playing for both Manchester clubs and West Ham.

He has so far scored 84 goals in the competition.
