Tottenham expert ‘delighted’ after Alessandro Bastoni update
Fresh comments from Alessandro Bastoni’s agent are good news for Tottenham.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
As quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Bastoni’s agent, Tinti, claimed his client will be staying at Inter Milan after talks with the club’s board on 8 June.
This came after this site revealed on 25 May that Spurs had identified Bastoni, as their first choice left-sided centre-back this summer.
Despite this development, Wenham is “delighted” Spurs know where the player stands on a move.
“I’m delighted we have had this announcement two days before the window opened,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Historically Tottenham have found out that deals are off the table with an hour or half an hour to go until the window shuts.
“By doing our business so early this time, and this is the first time I can remember us making signings like this, we now know it looks like Bastoni is staying.
“I’m pleased Tottenham are targetting players of this calibre. I don’t mind being turned down by those players if you are asking the right questions.
“Bastoni, for me, ticks a lot of boxes. He’s worked with Conte before, he’s a full Italy international and he has the chance to get much better.
“If it’s a simple case of him staying in Italy a bit longer, those players seem to stay sometimes.
“Now it’s about looking at who else we can bring in. I’m just delighted we have an answer.”
