Tottenham expert drops ‘big’ Micky van de Ven claim after surprise reveal
Micky van de Ven will be a “big” player for Tottenham this season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Spurs defender Alan Hutton said there is “pressure” on Van de Ven to hit the ground running when he arrives at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs have announced the signing of the defender, who has agreed a six-year contract with the club.
The centre-back has been on the radar of Spurs since January and have secured his signature for the upcoming campaign.
When asked if Van de Ven will be coming into the club as a member of the starting XI, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think so that is why they have bought him.
“He comes in to the defence and makes them stronger. He looks like an imposing figure, he likes to come out with the ball, he can pass, he looks strong defensively and that is what you are looking for in a modern day defender.

“He is young, there is room for improvement. Coming into a big club it is a big step for him but it is obviously a challenge that he is looking forward to.
“There is a little bit of pressure on his shoulders but the defence is definitely somewhere that needs improved.“
