Tottenham expert ‘feels sorry for’ Fraser Forster after what he’s just spotted
Alan Hutton has claimed Fraser Forster is not the man to replace Hugo Lloris at Tottenham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs right-back said that although Forster is a “real good backup” he is not good enough to be Lloris’ long-term replacement.
Forster made his first league appearance of the season on Monday (26 December), as the Lilywhites drew 2-2 with Brentford.
Lloris was on the bench after returning from France’s second place finish at the World Cup.
According to the Daily Mail (27 December), Antonio Conte’s side are considering a move for Everton’s Jordan Pickford as a potential successor the the Frenchman.
Hutton claimed the London club should be looking outside of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for a replacement.
“I think it is difficult for somebody to come in when they have not played a lot of football and just be asked to play at the top of your level,” he told Football Insider.
“You need a run of games so I do feel sorry for him.
“The first goal, it took a deflection, it was difficult for him. You are going to be scrutinised when you come in because you have to play at the top level constantly.

“They will obviously be looking to bring in another keeper, Lloris is not going to go on forever. Is Forster going to be the guy? I am not so sure.
“I think he is a real good backup goalkeeper, he has played a lot of games in the Premier League. But I think they will be looking in the future to bring somebody else in.“
