Tottenham expert fumes at Keane over ‘absolutely bizarre’ Kane claim
Roy Keane’s assessment of Harry Kane’s foul on Thiago Silva during Sunday’s game between Tottenham and Chelsea was “bizarre”.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Kane thought he had put Tottenham into the lead before Paul Tierney blew up for a foul on Chelsea defender Silva.
The striker does lean into the defender before he goes down, in the words of Wenham, “like a sack of spuds”.
Keane said, “Kane does lean into him [Silva], at 36 or 37, you are going to go down”.
Wenham was baffled by Keane’s stance.
“I thought we held our own in the first half,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“We should have been 1-0 up at the break but there was a poor refereeing decision, again.
“I disagreed with Roy Keane’s assessment, that was strange to hear coming from a so-called ‘hardman’.
“Thiago Silva is probably 15 stone and Keane was trying to make an excuse about his age.
“I found that absolutely bizarre, it makes no difference if you are 17 or 37, Thiago Silva can handle himself.
“This is a guy who has led Brazil for years to go down like a sack of spuds.

“Had the goal counted, our game plan would have been working perfectly.
“There was minimal contact and obviously we all know what happened in the second half.”
In other news, Tottenham have been tipped to complete four new signings this weeks after a transfer update from Alasdair Gold.
