Tottenham expert issues ‘world-class’ Rodrigo Bentancur claim as footage analysed – ‘phenomenal’
Rodrigo Bentancur is a “world-class” player who is set to spend the best years of his career at Tottenham.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Bentancur, 25, started as Tottenham secured their place in the knockout rounds of the Champions League by beating Marseille on Tuesday (1 November), though he went off injured in the second half.
Against Bournemouth on Saturday (29 October), the Uruguayan scored a last-gasp winner as Spurs came from behind to win 3-2.
Wenham now claims the midfielder is a world-class talent.
“If you watch how he scores it. How many defensive midfielders take their time to trap the ball in the box like that, in the last second of the game, and then place it in the top corner?” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He was phenomenal. He has really come on this season as well, he has come into the world-class category now. He is going to have his prime years at Tottenham as a 25-year-old having already won three scudetto’s at Juventus so he is hugely experienced.
“He has 51 caps for Uruguay as well. He is only getting better and better. For £15.8million, that was a phenomenal piece of business from the club.
“What a caveat for our side.”

Bentancur’s strike against Bournemouth was just his second goal for the club.
He has now made 36 appearances for the club.
